Crocodile Bay Lodge

Crocodile Bay Lodge sits on the Osa Peninsula, adjacent to one of Costa Ricas' most beautiful beaches. Offshore and inshore fishing come together here in a phenomenal way. In the Golfo Dulce, anglers often raise a dozen sailfish a day. The 27-foot inboards make short runs to bluewater also inhabited by black, blue and striped marlin, tuna, dolphin and wahoo. Inshore, volcanic structure provides light-tackle action for roosterfish. And in the mangrove estuaries, your guide will silently pole a back-country flats boat in search of explosive 30-pound snook. This new resort features 20 air-conditioned rooms with queen-size beds and private verandahs. Amenities include open bar, elegant restaurant and a wildlife observation deck overlooking tropical gardens. Non-anglers can snorkel, kayak and explore the rainforest National Geographic calls "the most biologically intense place on earth."

Experience one of the world’s truly great fishing lodges. Since 1961, when Ray Smith unveiled his fishing paradise in Piñas Bay, more than 170 world records have been set at Tropic Star Lodge. Black, blue and striped marlin abound in numbers unheard of elsewhere. Pacific sailfish and dorado are caught year-round, with multiple hookups common from April through July. First-class sportfishing boats will take you trolling offshore or to inland waters for light-tackle action. After fishing, return to the lodge for a dip in the pool or just relax in your spacious air-conditioned room before enjoying a five-course candlelight dinner.
