Zambezi Tigerfish Safari
If you've ever thought of visiting Africa "someday" don't wait -- this is the trip of your dreams! Set up for single anglers, couples or groups of friends, this African Safari has something for everyone.
Starting off in Johannesburg at the luxurious Sandton Hotel, you will then travel on to Sun City's Palace of the Lost City, one of the most incredible and opulant hotels in the world. Savor the full essence of an African safari -- elephants, hippos, lions and other big game with a game drive of Pilanesburg National Park. Afterwards there is time to play golf, spend time at the pool and water park or simply relax.
From Sun City you will fly to the camps where guests can fish if they choose, go on game-drives or simply relax and enjoy the river and wildlife. The safari lodges offer very comfortable lodging and delicious meals.
Then it is onto Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. You will stay at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, overlooking the Zambezi River and take a tour of the falls and local market.
Cape Town Extension
If that is not enough, then its off the Cape Town on the southern most tip of Africa. Cape Town offers a never ending array of things to see. With Table Mountain overlooking the harbor, a nature reserve, a penguin colony and a huge and beautiful city to tour, a trip to Cape Town is a great way to finish off your African vacation.
Lions Roar, Tigerfish Soar
Distinguished by its powerful tail and savage teeth, Southern Africa's legendary tigerfish ranks among the world's most exciting freshwater sportfish. The typical tigerfish weighs 3-8 pounds, with trophies running from 10-20 pounds. Anglers can enjoy full days fishing for the legendary tigerfish, whose jarring strikes, lightning runs and acrobatic leaps challenge light-tackle and fly enthusiasts.
Anglers typically fish 2 per boat, although boats can accommodate up to 4 anglers. Most anglers find casting plugs, spinners and spoons most effective. On a good day, two reasonable anglers should boat 20-40 fish easily; on a bad day, perhaps 10 fish. Each boat typically lands 4-6 fish a day over 10 pounds. Catch-and-release fishing practices are encouraged.
Fly fishing is challenging, as you have to get line down deep, as quick as possible. Large streamer flies with lots of flash work best. The other fish to catch is the vundu catfish, which averages about 25 pounds but can weigh over 100 pounds.
