Alaskian Trophy Pike
Midnight Sun provides fully guided trips in western Alaska on one of the Yukon's largest tributaries. Established in 1996, Midnight Sun prides themselves on the size, vitality, and quality of their indigenous Northern Pike on the Yukon River in Western Alaska. Yukon Pike grow larger because they live in one of the world's most productive salmon spawning regions and thus have an abundant diet of salmon protein. The guides help you look for the real trophies: forty-seven inch and longer. Midnight Sun's record is fifty-five inches. Enjoy the custom-built houseboat for great Pike fishing, or try the float tour and jet boat fishing on the Aniak River for King, Silver, Rainbow, and Char fishing.
Midnight Sun Adventures
Alaska, United States
From the Midnight Sun Lodge, you will board our smaller 18 ft custom built skiffs outboard engines. These boats are equipped with the latest in electronics, remote-control trolling motors, huge casting platforms and pedestal seats. There will be two anglers and one guide per fishing boat.
Based off of water temps, bait, wind direction, and forage, your guide will navigate the many miles of the Yukon River to find your monster pike. Weed beds, sloughs, submerged islands and points are just a few places a well placed lure could be rewarded. Top water fly fishing, giant flies, even giant rubber swim baits are all tactics used on the Yukon’s giant tackle crushing pike. The rare sheefish also readily hit flies and tackle in the deep currents of the Yukon.
The greatest part about Yukon pike fishing is that a 50" monster could literally be on any cast.
Midnight Sun follows a strict catch-and-release policy. Guests are required to use single, barbless hooks on all lures. In the interest of preserving the fishery all leaders are hand tied by the guides using 65 lbs. wire without clips. All pike are landed by hand by the guide, as the guides have developed handling techniques to minimize stress to the fish.
