In Search of El Dorado
Tsimane Lodge, Bolivia
Andean mountains, Tsimane is a privileged place where freshwater fishing reaches its pinnacle.
Its incredible landscape features clear rivers and streams running through the jungle and mountains. Ideal for wading and sight casting, these wild rivers are inhabited by some of the most powerful fish that can be faced with a fly rod. Tsimane's waters boast two species of Dorado of up to 40 pounds, Pirapitinga (Amazon Pacú) up to 25 pounds, and Yatorana, pound by pound, one of the strongest freshwater species.
After flying to the lodge from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, our party of just four anglers will set off in specially designed boats, led by expert fly-fishing guides and native assistants. You'll spend your days floating on small mountain rivers and wading across authentic freestones, searching for Dorado or Pacú swimming practically in your face.
You'll stay in luxurious safari-style tent lodges surrounded by pristine rainforest and a multitude of butterflies, birds and other tropical animals. This project also helps support the conservation of the area and the local indigenous culture.
Each trip is limited to just four anglers. Exclusive FishQuest dates are:
Aug. 23-Sept. 2.
Cost is $5995, plus international airfare.
